Comparing software frameworks of Augmented Reality solutions for manufacturing

Abstract Augmented reality (AR) is a technology that allows overlaying of virtual elements on top the physical environment. This enhances perception and conveys additional information to user. With emergence industry 4.0 concepts in manufacturing landscape, AR found its way improve existing Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) shop-floor. The industrial setting has wide variety application opportunities from AR, ranging training digital work instructions quality inspection remote maintenance. Even though implementation rising popularity, it still mainly restricted large companies due limited availability resources Small Medium Size Enterprises (SME). However, SMEs can benefit solutions production processes. Therefore, this research aims develop present results comparison two simple cost-effective software frameworks for Hand Held Device (HHD) Head Mounted (HMD), which be applied developing applications manufacturing. Two are developed using these presented case study section. Android device chosen as HHD HoloLens HMD used study. development structure reproduced by wider range enterprises with diverse needs resource availability.
